So far my experience with Windows Vista Networking has been terrible. Every time I want to share a file with my friends I have to restart my computer and go into Windows XP. I've networked Windows XP all the time and have no problem setting up a massive network with it, but Windows Vista has problems. Also I have final build so.....

How can I disable Windows Vista from changing my Workgroup Name?
Like I have the workgroup name: WORKGROUP , but whenever I unplug the internet it changes to UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK.

Also sharing files?
Almost impossible with Windows Vista, I've cranked off the firewall and done all that enabled everything and still none of my friends can view my files.

If I get any of these problems figured out tonight, I'll post a full review on the Windows Vista Networking Problems, but as of now I'm having constant problems. All I have to say is what happened????? Windows Vista was promising to be a great operating system, but after using it for about 4 months now I'm just fed up with the hassle and enjoy using my powerful Windows XP system.

I was frustrated with Vista's file sharing at first too, but I've got it figured out now.

In the Control Panel click Set up File Sharing under Network and Internet.

Under the Sharing and Discovery header, change each item to Yes or No depending on your preference.

Hope this helps :whistling:

Awwww.... YES,,,,I've used that thing before, but didn't realize Password protected sharing was on and that's why it wasn't working....Probably some stupid default setting was to have it ON and I didn't see it....

But anyways I still don't understand why Vista feels the need to change the Workgroup name. I mean I set it, but you unplug the internet and it feels like its an unidentified network now...........Well if i'm gonna play LAN then i don't want it to be unidentified......Vista 1,000 Times more aggravating than XP ever was.
