I've been thinking of upgrading to Vista Home Premium. I currently have XP Home. Is it possible to install Vista over XP without losing any programs or other data? Is this what the "upgrade" function is for?

Any help appreciated

hi, i was in a similar position that you find yourself in, but glady i can tell you there is a way to keep all your current applications, programs, pictures, music etc. i found that the best way to do this is by running the vista disk while your running xp as this gives you the option to tranfer your current files, if you boot from "bootup" then you dont get the option to transfer although all your old stuff will still be located in windows.old folder, so i have found that whatever you will always have your old files and programs if you use the methods i did.
hope that helps.
