Using Win Me I find that my system tray icons as well as icons elswhere about the page have either a white square behind them in equivalent pixel size as the icon it sits behind or an image of some other unrelated thing which by the way I never am able to completely determine what it is an image of, though some look like genitalia, as if someone is signing their malware work or whatever this sort of invasion would actually be classed as,...I am asking for HELP to eliminate this fault.
So far I have attempted registry cleanups, system restore points, adware removal, virus removal,...most the usual things.
Any ideas my 'High Members of the Geekdom Kingdom. [well how else do I address people that really do hold such a rather mysterious intrigue and yet surely command respect?....lol]
Thanks for whatever help may be sent my way,
EPWolf

If it's worthy anything, my advice for you would be to replace Windows ME with either Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows 2000.

As always, back up important data before doing anything you don't understand.

Hello EPWolf...

Let's let the malware experts deal with this one.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions found there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. Do not reply to or bump your own topic. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

Click Here to start a new topic and paste your log.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
