Hi all I have to put my 2 cents worth in here. I too visited the geek squad and was told not to use the freeware. I walked away laughing because the only reason he didnt want me to use them was he was trying to sell me Panda. Yes Panda is good but I had already been using AVG and spybot and others for years and when he mentioned to stay away from the free ware ones, my daughter spoke up and said all our computers and laptops have always had AVG and such and "her mommy would never ever forsake them". As I said I was laughing my butt off while explaining the ins and outs of upselling and over priced packages to my daughter.

I did learn the hard way about having more then one firewall and virus program so now I just have 1 of each.

I tried to install the IE-SPYAD but had trouble so I deleted it. So I am not sure of that program. But the others I have them all. I use IE not foxfire so I have nothing for the foxfire. I guess I am a creature of habit. I cant picture using anything else but IE but if you say foxfire stops all this crap from coming in then perhaps this old dog should learn a new trick?

So in closing I am a fan of these types of programs and I help them by giving money when I can so that they will stay around for many more years to come.

Actually, the guy I was dealing with was trying to sell me every extra feature possible, so it sounds like we had a similar experience.

Again, I install programs slowly over several days so if there is a problem I can identify what program installation likely caused it. And reading the SPY-AD tutorial left me concerned.

By the way, site advisor is a really good resource. I am glad I have it.

I don't have time to research IE-SPYAD right now but

SpywareBlaster and the MVP hosts file will play together without any problems...start with those and later you can add IE-SPYAD if later on you decide its necessary or even needed...
