Ive just upgraded my pc using a friends disc to see what vistas like for 30 days and maybe to buy it and so far it had been pretty good but its come to a point when the performance has suddenly dropped like just browsing the web on firefox it will freeze for a few seconds and the sound of the hard drive suddenly stops. Also i have a maxtor drive which has firmware issues with my nforce4 motherboard ive been trying to contact seagate as they have bought out maxtor and the support is so bad. Could any1 find me a link to the firmware download page or somthings

Please provide the model and s/n of your drive to look up the info.

There are some performance issues related to hard drives. They have already state that this will be addressed in the service pack 1.

There are some hotfix's available that might help as well:

Vista also eats memory like there's no tomorrow.
It struggles on 512Mb, runs better on 1Gb, 2Gb seems to be a sweet point. Anything less than 512Mb I really would not go there.
