Yesterday I had my laptop stolen from me and I'm pretty choked about it, the main thing I'm worried about is whether or not someone can access my passwords and then bank account info/credit card info. I use firefox and have as many passwords as I can saved on the system so when i go to the website it fills in my password and username automatically. I had a bios password and I just wanted to know if there was anyway they could access my info by somehow going through my bios without the password, i have no idea how bios passwords work but from what i've heard they're pretty secure, any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks

Hi seanehboy...

You should change ALL your passwords immediately...f you haven't already. It wouldn't hurt to contact you credit card company and tell them what happened so they can be watching for unauthorized use.

BIOS passwords can be cleared fairly easily. I won't say how, but for someone who knows computers, it would take only a few minutes.

I think the FF's Password Manager expires the remembered passwords in 30 days unless you hacked it to not expire. Still, all sensitive information should be reported as wannabe suggested.

I know how to clear a BIOS pswd on a PC, but I've never heard of it done on a laptop. Is it done physically or with software?

I'm woefully undereducated in hacking computers... a good guy through and through :) . Although it is pretty funny when friends see HijackThis on my desktop and go "Oh sweet! you know how to hack stuff?" and then I have to explain lots of tedious things...
