Take it easy there Dan.

I got an email earlier today from a vendor that Ive spoken to a number of times. We mostly correspond via email, so he has seen my name over and over at least a dozen times. I get an email from him today that starts with "Hi Kirk".

Kirk?

Beam me up Scotty!

My last name is Jacksland

I thought that was easy enough but I guess not. Its Jacks-land

I get Jackson, Jack-lan, Jack-land, Jocklin, Jock-land, etc.

The best thing about having an unusual name is that it's easy to screen the telemarketers, "uh, no he's not home right now". :)

So telemarketers call your house and ask for admin? And does your wife say "I'm sorry, he's not available, but this is mrs. admin - can I help you?"

Try having a name like sari. They get it right in email, but never on the phone or in person.

So how is it pronounced? With an "o" sound like "sorry" or with a long "A", so it rhymes with "hairy"?

It rhymes with sorry, but it's pronounced with a 'sh' sound, not a 's' sound.
