That's how I also have been pronouncing it. I think I'm going to stick to it in my head... :)

Speaking of calling people other names in your head, same goes for you

Hey, Dan...I mean Don. I have the exact opposite problem as you! I am Dan and I get a lot of people calling me Don. How's that for ya?! :) In fact I used to work with this guy, Ralph, who I let get away with calling me Don for almost two years and then I finally told him. It seem to embarrass him a bit but it felt good to have told him. The rest of the day he went out of his way to use "Dan" and chuckle about it everytime. The next day it was back....."good morning Don!" I never tried to correct him again. I actually have the worst trouble with people hacking up my last name. The most common is Florance which comes out "floor ants". I have even seen it as bad as Fartz. What's that about?! That's not even close.

Thanks to you all - I do like my name, as it's unusual. I'm sure there are a lot of people in internet world who are calling me sairy or sorry! You do get a pronunciation stuck in your head when you don't have a chance to actually hear someone pronounce their name. (But I still can't pronounce the car guy's new name - I do much better remembering user names when I can actually say them as a word!).

Nah, it's just called sucking up to the mods! :) While you're at it, you better tell frantique that she has a lovely avatar, or Australian accent, or unique name, or something!

I coached hockey with a guy for 3 years my oldest son David and his oldest played on the same team so he figured I was like everyone else and named my first born after myself so he called me Dave for 3 years till one day we are standing in front of the rink and a parent comes up and says Don can I ask you a question and I say sure the other coach looked at me funny after the parent left he said your name is Don ? yep :)
