Hello all.

I just bought a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit installed. Well, the problem that I have is my hard drive space keeps going down and I don't exactly know what is causing it. I have a suspicion that it is because I'm downloading large AVI files but I try deleting everything after I am done watching it (the files itself, delete browsing history, and disc clean up) but my disc space stays lower than what it previously was before I downloaded the file. I don't download anything else (i.e. programs of any sort, music) and am stumped. Can someone please help me? Is there some sort of temporary folder outside the options deleting browsing history and disc cleanup that can be holding copy files?

Delete the files inside the prefetch folder ( not the prefetch folder)
The prefetch folder is a subfolder of the Windows system folder. The prefetch folder is self-maintaining, and there's no need to delete it or empty its contents. If you empty the folder, Windows and your programs will take longer to open the next time you turn on your computer.

Your system is making restore points. It will keep making restore points until they take up 15% of your total hard drive space. I wish I knew how to change how much hard drive space it uses, but I do know that you can delete them through disc clean-up.

Thanks gamelord, I went to the "more options" tab on disc clean up and cleaned up the system restore and shadow copies. I have more room to download now :) heh
