The system that FPVDriF6 put together I would definitely get that if you can spare going over the $900 budget for now and getting the rebates later on.

Ups 3 day shipping will be atleast around $35 or so depending where you live..

Around $965 for a complete system is not bad not including the rebates because you will have to pay that price up front first before you get the rebates.

I would maybe look at a better powersupply. I use to always recommend antec but here lately they have been having some problems with them like DOA or they burn out. You do get a 5 year warranty though with antec and they do keep their word on it.

Lg is fine for a dvd burner. Samsung is the same price both have same quality.

Id start buying that system right now lol and get ready for gaming.

I think this system is a pretty good build, and if you wanted to do any more upgrades you could go for the E6750 processor, this seems to be the sweet spot in price/performance right now for Intel processors.

In particular, what I was trying to do is get some different brand alternatives out there. jrm20's point on the DVD Burner confirms this - the LG or Samsung would be good. Same with the hard drives (Western Digital, Seagate), motherboard (Gigabyte, Abit) etc... All are good quality brands and should do the job nicely.

In regards to the power supply, the Antec is an exceptional product. If it does arrive DOA, then obviously you can get it exchanged for another one - it does happen. If you wanted to look at a different brand, I recommend something like these choices in addition to jrm20's:

Silverstone PSU $159.99 ($20 rebate brings it down to $139.99)
Cooler Master PSU $169.99 ($40 rebate brings it down to $129.99)

DOH!, don't ever rush into something if you're unsure. All the builds we have suggested are compatible, so it might help to hurry up if you want certain rebates etc... But please, feel free to ask questions if you have any!

Thats a sweet build.

Only thing I would change is the Powersupply. Apevia bought out aspire and they arent known for HIGH quality powersupplies. Look into an OCZ GameXstream 700W, BFG 650W, Silverstone equivalent, or a mushkin 650W. All of those are low priced for what you are getting, some of the silverstone can get pricy if you go above 650watts.

Any of these power supplies are what I would get.. Id go for the ocz first choice.

I would recommend getting a SATA DVD Burner, it makes for better cabling inside = better airflow. Why do you want a DVD Burner and a plain CD-ROM drive? I see you've also upgraded the motherboard, but I reckon you'd be better off going with upgrading the processor to the E6750 instead.

For the power supply, just make sure you get one that's nice and efficient (80%+). The Antec I suggested or the OCZ that jrm20 suggested have this, but I can't find the information on the others.

Yeah now those parts look even better I didnt realize you wanted to go over your first budget of $900 but yes I would definitely go this route and upgrade to better stuff. If you upgrade to better stuff the system will last that much more in the long run so you dont have to upgrade as often. In reality it wont be that much more to upgrade to the q6600 quad core or the E6850 than the shopping list we had last time.

The E6750 is $194 and is at a better price point than the E6850.

Okay here is the deal between the E6850 and the Q6600. The Q6600 is a Quad core but it is actually slower than the E6850 at most things because the E6850 has a higher clock speed even though its only a dual core. It depends what applications you would use and the quad core would be alittle faster like at photoshop, auto cad, or music creation.. At gaming the E6850 is faster because of the higher clock speed like I said and games havnt utilized the features of 4 cores yet. There is a few games that run better on the Q6600 because the game utilizes more cores but the E6850 is the faster chip RIGHT NOW overall. In time the q6600 will be faster when more programs utilize its full potential.

For you Id stick with a E6750 or E6850 the are very fast.

The reason Im going for the quad q6600 is because im getting a water cooling system so I can overclock the crap out of the processor. Ill have the speed of a E6850 and 4 cores for future applications. Doing this isnt for the beginner pc builder though as I am just stating why I chose what I did for my own Build.


for the dvd burners get a combo drive like I said to begin with. IT does it all from dvds,cds,cdr's
and more.. It does everything including cd rom like you asked..

LOL it will be more than adequate for UT3. Your new pc will also play the new game Crysis at pretty high settings. Take a look at the upcoming game crysis also it is a pretty demanding game and looks great with sweet graphics.
