how can i use my sound card

hello to all i need some help just got vista and noticed that vista's audio settings are not the same as xp audio settings they dont have the option to select stereo mix for the sound card What the... did they do with that option and is there anything else i need to do so i can play music thru my sound card please can someone help me

Hi and welcome to GeeksTogo. Did you just recently upgrade to vista or did your computer come with vista? Also, if you go into control panel and click on "sounds" what does it list there?

well it came with the laptop the vista so you mean like inline and mic in recording?

go to your laptop manufactures website and look up drivers for you laptop. I suspect that you need an updated sound driver. You still may need to go into control panel and set the device as the default sound for the system.

i played with it some last night and found the stereo mix it was hidden but still no sound coming out of it
