Guitar Hero 2 disc problems

i borrowed GH2 from a friend, and it worked fine. when i put my brand new disc in, it wouldnt load to the title screen. the only difference between the 2 discs is that on the bottom, on the clear plastic, his has a number 1 and mine has a number 2.

i have a 1st gen fat PS2
