I wrote this poem a long time ago - just wanted to see what you guys thought.

The song of darkness flows through life
Far from the end of an eternal strife.
Although it's a struggle, although it's a fight
My beloved friends help me see the light.

The vaunted river of life flows on;
Like a flame, it will be gone.
When the river's done, when the river's through
The forsaken souls will be reborn anew.

But there is light, and there is order:
The melody of darkness is silenced at the border.
And the shifting serenades of evil are turned to joy,
But the flame of life remains still a toy.

What do you think?

:) I liked it!

I like poetry, it is an individuals true expression. This has a good "philosophical" rythym to it.

I have written quite a bit of poetry myself. Mind if I share one in this thread?

Well, ok, and thanks.

I used to frequent a resturaunt where this waitress was so awesome that I was inspired to write this one. I wrote it hoping that anyone who has ever met someone and felt that overwhelming attraction, but couldn't do a thing about it, could relate.

"If Only You Knew"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If only you knew
How each time I see you
The world around me
Vanishes instantly
I stop still on my feet
When our eyes meet
Trying to keep composure
Trying to avoid exposure
I'm vulnerable to you
If only you knew
And if only you knew
Everything I see you do
Your smile your talk
The way that you walk
Captivates my heart
It nearly tears me apart
As I lust for you so
Wishing you wouldn't go
Come back again
Forget about him
It should be me and you
If only you knew
Setting my world a fire
Leaving me burning with desire
As you walk away
Until another day
To turn me on as you do
If only you knew
~~
I wrote this while thinking of a friend... this one's to you, Lauren!
P.S. I like to use that rhyme scheme... you'll see it in this poem as well.
I Remember
When I am saddened, and my hope is swayed
When reason wanes, and I'm afraid
When evil flows like melted ice cream
And Valhalla is as far as a dream
I think of your smile, and I remember.
I remember the happiness, and the joys of the world
How the colours, music, and magic twirled
Into an omnipotent shadow of joy
And paradise is ready to deploy
I hear your laughter, and I remember.
I remember the sadness and the joys of love
I remember the haunted cry of a mourning dove
I remember the crisp cool air in the spring
The sharp chill air that compels the birds to sing.
And then... I see the light.
So when I hear the devil's serenade
And trust in the world is beginning to fade
When despair and loss is at the extreme
And the heavenly light is but a beam
I think of you... and I remember.
Anyone else? We can't be the only poets here...
Beautiful poems Fredil! I really liked them. I love English poetry and I study it quite a lot :) I find the rhymes very suiting, especially for the first poem. It gives it a very 'flowing' sense - it suits the theme :)
I write, quite a lot actually (in English, yes). Not poems though; I'm more into descriptive and long writing. I'm working on some projects now, they will take some time to complete. On one story I'm working for half a year already (with a big pause in the middle...), it's already turning into a book :) I hope I'll finish it sometime.
Keep trying :) I find that I write the best from 1am - 3am, so that's my usual writing hours. However, I'm having trouble creating a logical plot; sometimes everything just messes up :)
1-3 AM... My parents would almost literally kill me.
I don't have any poems off the top of my head right now, but if I manage to get that short story or any other poems I'll certainly post them :)
These are really nice poems you have here, I have been writing poetry for a while.
I am posting this special one that was published back in 1999. Hope you enjoy
REMEMBER ME
You took me in a loving way,
to let me know that I could stay.
A loving home that I have had,
to forget a life that before was sad.
The rain come down and the window it pounds,
but I am safe 'cause you're around.
You held and hugged me as I lay,
knowing I'm on my last day.
A soothing voice, a caring face
made me enjoy this home with grace.
The day is here, the pain is gone.
Don't shed a tear as I have done.
My memories of home with a view
remind me how much I love you.
In my dreams I run like a kitten,
play with toys, eat ice cream, but not once bitten.
Remember me as I do you,
even though the years were few.
Do not cry, do not have sorrow,
'cause I'll be there through all your tomorrows.
:) I don't ask my parents. Our schools strike, it's the... 33rd day, I go to sleep whenever I want. I just close the door, tell them good night, and I'm free to do as I wish :)
And 3am is nothing... You ever stayed up until 8am? :)
