Well it looks like the PCI-E x16 2.0 came out. Do you think it is necessary at the moment? It looks like it is not but someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I should be able to have the parts here before the end of the year. This way I will be happy for a while and I will be able to convince them easier because I have half the parts for a PC just laying around and ready to go.

PS: The board is compatible with the Penryn if I decide to get one?

Any P35 board will work fine, 780i or x38 if you feel like spending a little more money. I personally would stick with a Intel chipset at this time as nVidia has been having none stop problems with quad core CPU's on their chipsets.

Looks like similar choices to what I have, I'm very pleased with it.

Also, the 8800GT I have is PCI-Express 2.0, but the motherboard isn't - and yet, performance is very good

PCIe 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCIe 1.x. It'll be a while till we can fully saturate the 1.x bus.

Unless you are also buying an aftermarket HSF, you don't need thermal grease. The stock cooler comes with a thermal pad applied already.

Yeah I know that but when I put together the other two PCs I am going to need to reapply some new grease so I just through it in there $5 no big deal. Thanks though.

I suggest MX-2 instead of the paste you have, it's better then AS5 and cheaper.
