I just got a new HP Pavilion for Christmas. At first the Logon name was my dad's so I changed it to my name. The user name in Task Manager is still my dad's name and I want to change it. How do I do this?

Well, you could try THIS Registry tweak.

I followed the directions and changed the RegisteredOwner part to my name. I clicked OK, but the name in the task manager is still my dad's name. I went back to the RegisteredOwner thing and my name is there instead of my dad's. It didn't work.

Yep.. Sometimes it works..

You get to re-install Windows and put your name as the registered owner.

No other way.

How do I re-install Windows, and will it get rid of all the settings I have made?

Boot the computer using your XP cd. Wipe the drive and start over.

It will wipe everything.
