permission errors [CLOSED]

Attempting to fix my son's computer. What a mess.

Have already run Ad Aware SE, Spybot SD, AVG Anti-spyware, and AVG7. I've also cleaned up temporary files, run a disk defrag, and a scandisk. Seems to have cleaned things up enough that I was able to get the speed back up from almost not moving at all to normal speeds and have fixed the wireless (sort of).

Running WinXP Home on a Dell INspiron 1100, Service Pack 2, 2ghz Celeron

There are several issues that I've found so far:

1. On start up I get the following messages:

C:\\windows\system32\yabyx.exe
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the file.

Desktop
Could not run or load "c:\\windows\system32\yabyx.exe" specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

I looked and this file does exist in the folder windows\system32 but I was unable to locate the folder in the registry to varify the permissions. I have not been able to find a solid reference to this file anywhere on the Web.

2. AVG7 will not run, uninstall, or install. Here's the error message:
Local machine: installation failed
Initialization:
Error: Checking of state of the item file avgcc.exe failed.
File opening failed. %FILE% = "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe"
Permission denied
I've checked, and this file also exists or did. I've attempted to delete these files in an effort to reinstall the software. Several files, at least, are also locked.

3. As much as I check the box for autostart for the wireless connection, I still have to manually start it each time the computer is booted up.

4. My Network Places on the Start button no longer seems to exist

Welcome to GeeksToGo. My name is RatHat, and I will help you get through the process of cleaning the malware from your computer.

OK firstly, I need you to print out each post I make so that you can refer to it while we fix your computer. This is because there will be times when you are unable to be online to read my instructions, and I will want you to do everything very carefully. I also need you to follow my instructions in the order that they are given. If however, you cannot carry out one of them, please continue on with the next and let me know what you were unsuccessful with.

Next, I would like to make sure that you can view hidden files and folders;

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders.
UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.

Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
Expand the "Tools" menu.
Click "Resident".
Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

Download ComboFix from Here, Here or Here to your Desktop. (If you already have ComboFix, please delete it and download this new version).

Now physically disconnect from the internet and STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields)
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Save this log to your desktop as Combofix.txt and post it in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
