First of all, I am not very computer literate, so thanks for being patient with me. Second of all, for the past two weeks, my daughters computer has been running very slow and, once on the internet, we keep getting popups. I did the following steps:

1. I ran the ATF Cleaner
2. I created a New System Restore point
3. I ran the AVG Anti-spyware in safe mode BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO CREATE A LOG AND NOW MY COMPUTER CANNOT FIND THIS PROGRAM.
4. I ran SUPERAntispyware
5. I ran pandasoftware
6. I tried to download AVG antivirus software but, again, it could not find it when I tried to open the program. So, I did download Avast antivirus program with good results.
7. I did a windows update using the SP1a download
8. I restarted the computer and the following errors came up.

Windows cannot find 'c:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjg.exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search.

I closed that and the another message came up

Could not lead or run 'c:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjg.exe.' specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry.

Hello tracylynn

Welcome to G2Go. :)
==================
Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

You are welcome. :)
You have a virtumonde infection as well as some other malware files.

First:
I see that you are running 2 anti virus programs Avast and Computer Associates.
Please uninstall the one you are current with updates I recommend Avast because it is free.
Having 2 is a sure way to get many system problems.
==================================
After that Please download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Oh Goodness...I am ready to scream. :) I went into MY COMPUTER then to ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS to delete the virus program from Computer Associates. It was not there. So I went to the program files and found it. I tried to delete it but an error message came up saying the following:

ERROR Deleting File or Folder
Cannot delete ArcLib.dll Access is Denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I know it is running because when I went to Windows Security Center, it is saying that antivirus program is running.

So now another problem....how do I disable this program so I can delete it?

Do I need to get this deleted before we proceed any further because I feel bad about taking up your time.

You really don't know how much I appreciate your help!!!!

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\Program Files\CA

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

======================================
After that then please run Combofix.

  • Please go to Start > Control Panel
  • on the top left hand corner will be a setting to Switch to Classic view.
  • Click that unless it is like that already.
  • Then double click on the Java icon.
  • Under the General tab at the top look at the bottom and you will see a setting called Temporary Internet Files.
  • Click on Settings and then click on Delete Files click ok at the prompt and then close out of that
==========================================================================
After that please update your Java:
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Ugrading Java:After that
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
=================
After that please re-open Hijackthis and click on "Do a system scan only"
Then place a check mark next to these entries below:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebse...arch.jhtml?p=ZJ
