Hey there. I found this site while searching for a solution to my problem. There seems to be lots of activity here as well as some knowledgeable people. I thought i'd give this a shot.

I don't know what's wrong. I didn't install anything (that I can remember). I've just been playing the same game that's been on my computer forever (WoW). I restarted it today and it came back with a frozen taskbar. When I mouse over on the TB I get the hourglass symbol. I can still access everything through Alt+Tab ing and by going in through folders. My CPU runs very high (50-100%). It's never run that high before.

I've tried many a program since it happened to find otu what's wrong and nothing seems to turn up. The worst that's come up are some cookies. They've been deleted and nothing changes. I tried a program call TaskBar Repair and that did nothing. I tried a system restore and that said that it could not restore to a previous date.

I used to like figuring this stuff out myself but I don't have the time to spend a day or two teaching myself stuff anymore. :) Job, wife, kids, night school. I'm sure you all know what i'm talking about. :)

Any suggestions on where to start? In the past something has always stuck out to help me get this but everything else seems fine (except the TB and CPU usage).

Not trying to bump myself up here. I read the sticky. I'll edit this post from now on. I'm following the steps set up in the sticky of what to do before posting a HJT file. AVG wouldn't work before . I re installed it and it's good now. I scanned all night and besides the cookies it came up with 3 new files:

Dropper.Small
Worm.VD.dw
Backdoor.Eggdrop.v

I took the actions. Taskbar is still frozen. When I get home from work tonight i'll edit this post after i've completed the rest of the steps.

Panda wouldn't let me scan. After ActiveX was installed it would shut IE down. Here's the rest of the stuff. I didn't want to start a new topic and this one is now on like page 3 or 4. Hopefully someone finds it.

Just doing a quick login from work to let you guys know that whatever I did with all the above made everything work again. I now have AVG running (until the trial expires). There seems to be absolutely no problems as of yet.
