I thought I would check with you before I cause a problem to my computer.
Is adding CutePDF or Ghostscript going to be cause me malware or spyware type problems if I were to add them?
I have looked at a few other posts where these softwares were on other users systems so I just wondered if it is better to leave them off mine?
thanks for your help.

This isn't the right area for such a question. We deal specifically with malware infected PC's here.

Is adding CutePDF or Ghostscript going to be cause me malware or spyware type problems if I were to add them?

I see nothing to suggest that using these programs will give you malware. If you want to be extra safe, put the .exe files through this site

http://www.virustotal.com/

That will scan any files with a lot of anti-virus programs, and will help you find out if the file is bad or good.

Hope that helps a bit, any more questions ?

Thank you Rorschach112 for replying so quickly. I do appreciate it. I was not sure where area to post. I know some freeware can be cause spyware problems so I thought this forum may be the right one.

I do have another question about AVG & Windows Defender but that probably belongs elsewhere too.

Great. I have the free version of AVG to check for viruses. But I recently noticed that the computer came loaded with Windows Defender. Do they do the same thing? I read on your site that I don't want two anti virus softwares as they will bog the machine down.

AVG is an anti-virus

Windows Defender is anti-spyware

They are two different programs so it is safe to keep them both on your PC. Just make sure you don't install another real-time anti-spyware protection program like TeaTimer or SpywareGuard as that will cause problems.

Sounds like you are ok, any other questions ?
