how do I connect two pc's to one monitor and share the main pc's internet connection? I've got windows xp and windows xp media edition I've connected both pc1 & 2 to the monitor and push a button on the monitor to see the 2nd pc. I have a router on pc1 and eathernet card on pc2. I've got a compaq 2.0 usb link adaptor but no software....is this all I need or? :)

Is there a way to get the 2 pc's to see each other without toggeling between them? Or even if I have to push the button on the monitor i'd at least like to use the internet connection on the main pc on the 2nd pc....but how? i'm having no joy.

I gather I need a kvm cable to be able to use one keyboard & mouse for each pc. Any help is appreciated

KVM switch. One keyboard, one mouse, one monitor, two PCs.

As to linking them up, set them both to the same workgroup, share whatever you need, reboot them and plug them straight into the router. That's all. This also simplifies internet connection sharing as the router will do it all.

Ok kvm switch it is.

Aside from pc1 being physically connected to the router......
You mean i'll need a physical connection from pc2 to the router as well? No other way? I'm looking for cheapest/easiest.

thanks much for your help!

One more related question. I currently have 2 cables going from the 2pc's to the monitor
pc1-cable-monitor
pc2-cable-monitor

I've purchased a Belkin Flip KVM switch, so, I'm guessing that I do not need that second pc2-monitor cable, right?
Ok I've answered my own question.....I do not need a 2nd monitor cable the kvm switch works......however......

I need to use the internet connection from my main pc on my 2nd pc.....but how?

Plug both computers into the router.
Both computers will be able to see each other.
The router will also handle your internet connection and both computers can go online at the same time .
