OK, then go with what I said before and go into it from the Control Panel.

I went into Control Panel, and there is only my account and a guest account. Is that what you wanted me to look at?

Yes, but I'm not sure you'll be able to get to where you need to be. Let's try this: Go to Start | Run, type lusrmgr.msc and press Enter. Let me know if you get an error.

Hi there,

I hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes here, but I have exactly the same problem as this user. I have followed all the steps given and also to no avail.

My home network seems to have completely disappeared. I can connect to the internet, but can not find anyone in my network or visa versa.

I had not made the connection with aim, until I read this thread.

Can anyone tell me if I can go further back in time on system restore than 5 days, as I installed aim about 2 weeks ago. Or any other help???

Again my apologies if I have put this in the wrong place and many thanks for any help.

Thanks for letting me know.

Try running the WMI Diagnostic Utility, let me know if you need any help or get any errors running the utility. You can optionally attach the log file here as well.

I don't know how to run the WMI Diagnostic Utility. I downloaded it from the Microsoft Download Center and Unzipped the files. Typing WMIDiag.vbs in the start menu has no results. Could you give me a list of directions please?

From the page I linked to you:

The bottom line? You can run the WMI Diagnosis Utility, using the default settings, simply by double-clicking the WMIDiag.vbs icon in Windows Explorer...

Yes, I saw that, but I don't know where the button is.

Am I supposed to download AIM again to do this?

There is no button, you just double-click the WMIDiag(.vbs) file that you downloaded and unzipped.

I did the WMIdiag.vbs thing, and then I installed AIM again. The internet connection problem is gone.

Thanks.

(I'm not sure if I did it right though)

Glad to hear it's working better. The WMI Diagnosis Utility is a diagnostic tool only: although it will offer step-by-step instructions for fixing a problem it cannot fix the problem itself. It should generate a log, which may be good for you to look at to see if there are any issues. Either that or zip and upload it here.
