Hey all. New to the forum (found you guys by accident, but I think I'm gonna like it here!) and have a few questions. I am setting up a home adhoc network with 3 computers and no router. The first is a sony vaio laptop running vista. The second is a compaq presario laptop running xp. The third is a desktop running xp. All three have wireless cards and I access the internet through a free service my apartment complex provides.

My problem is that when I set up the network on my vista computer first, it later says on that same computer that the settings are not compatible with the network. The compaq found the network, but would not connect because I assume the vista computer was not allowing a connection. I then removed all the networks (from the vista computer after it said I had incorrect settings, and from the compaq because it wouldn't connect because the vista computer was not allowing access). Thats when I tried the desktop first. It then said under network connections that I did not have access because I was allowing another program to run the setup for me. It wouldn't even show me a list of networks within range.

Now I am stuck. I thought I could get this stuff done. Guess I'm not as smart as I thought! Can anyone educate me on how to setup a wireless ad hoc network? The sticky showed several ways to set up networks but they all involved a router. Any help would be great!
