Hi everyone,

Some how I must have did something that created a white page over every icon on my desktop except for Computer,Control Panel and Recycle Bin. Every Page is the same with the top right hand corner turned down. Every page contains a picture of a window. How do I delete this overlay? OS is Vista Home Prem.

Thanks

Hello, and welcome to Geeks To Go.
Your Icons are not covered, they have been changed.
Any changes like this are a sign of infection.
I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Hi hfcg,

My icons are still under the pages They are bigger, so I can see them. they also work when I D-click on them. I do not think they are changed. Every thing seems to be working normal. I ran McAfee Plus which is still in force. Also I ran Windows Defender and both came up clean.

Update

I used Win Restore to take me back 5 days before the problem. Everything seems fine now. The pages are gone.

Thank you very much for your help and quick response.

Best Regards,

bushisland
