Hi, I have two computer in my household (soon to be 3) and would like to know how I can share files imbetween them other then burning to a CD, copying to a USB drive, etc. Like an FTP.

The computers are connected by Ethernet cables coming from the same router so the IP's are the same taking an FTP server out of the question (I think?). Also, one of the computers has limited privileges as it is from work.

To sum it up;
I have two computers (one which has limited privileges) which I would like to transfer files imbetween them like Remote Desktop or FTP. They are connected by Ethernet cables coming from the same router so the IP's are the same taking an FTP server out of the question (I think?).

All replys are appreciated.

Set them both to the same workgroup.
Share appropriate folders as yours needs be.
Items should now appear in "My Network Places", or you can use the Search function to search for computers and search by the other computer's name.

Welcome to Geeks2Go! Helpster.

Go to Start->All Programs->Accessories->Communications->Network Setup Wizard

or

Control Panel (classic view)->Network Setup Wizard

You will need to run this wizard on each PC you want to be able to share files and folders on the network.

This did not work because it required administrator privileges on on of my computers, I have now set up a VPN through the free tool Hamachi and it is working fine.

I would recommend using FolderShare if they are all XP.
