Ok, thanks for your fast reply.

Type msconfog.

You mean msconfig, right?

I attached a screenshot of the msconfig window.
What would you suggest to disable?

I think that I see your problem.
You are running two resident shield programs at the same time.
Avast crashed my Vista, but windows defender is not so hot.
Disable both of these, and try AVG free, or choose one to disable.
If this does not work I can start the trouble shooting.

I installed avast! 2 days ago, so it didn`t start with that.
But I'll try AVG Free and disable both.

Do you use AOL?
And do you know what the bottom entry is?
I see that you have two monitors.
It could be this software is conflicting with Vista.

I use AIM :)
Yeah, the bottom entry is a program I bought that makes a taskbar on my second monitor. It's very useful for me.

Since we have not been able to narrow the problem down, I am looking at all possible reasons for this issue.
Can you completely uninstall AOL, and then reinstall it, If nothing else works?
I do not admit defeat to inanimate objects, so I will stay with this until it is resolved to your satisfaction.

Sure I can uninstall it.
But I had AIM long before the freezes started to appear.
(Uninstalling now)

EDIT 1:
OK, it is completely uninstalled now. (And not listed anymore in msconfig)

EDIT 2:
I still get freezes, I'll install AIM again now.

In msconfig disable the NVIDIA items one at a time so we can eleminate them as the problem source.
Did you update all of the drivers for your motherboard?
The problem started after you replaced the motherboard, so it may be an issue with the motherboard drivers.

I have the newest drivers for the motherboard, yes.
Ok, I'll try that now.

The last thing I disabled (NVIDIA Compatible Windows Vista Display driver, Version 169.44). I didn't get a freeze since I did that.
(12600 seconds without a freeze [3h 30min])

This is most likely the problem then.
If everything else works right you may be able to leave it disabled in msconfig with no more to do.

that not any hardware conflict its only a specific process which is freezing ur computer again and again or might be it depends on load or running too many processes at same time

It freezes if I only have 38 processes running at the same time, or if its 60.
It doesn't matter how many processes are running at the same time.
It froze when I didn't even open any program, or immediately after the Vista Load screen.

@ hfcg: I didn't get a freeze since I did that, I think we finally got it right. :)
Thank you very much for now. I'll post back if anything happens again.

Please let me know if this has not resolved the issue.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Note with your system you should not have a problem with the number of processes running under normal conditions.

Yeah, thats what I thought when I read the post by AlErT.
The first thing I'll do if I get a freeze is writing a post here.

And yeah, my system is fine :)

EDIT 1: Oh, another thing I wanted to ask you: Is there a way to set vista to english? I have it in german now, but somehow it is easier for me when everything is english :)

EDIT 2: 8 HOURS without a freeze :) I'm pretty happy now. Hope this is over. :)
