Would you please tell me the make and model number of your computer?
The computer may have a recovery partition that will reset everything back to the way it was from the factory.
If it does not have a recovery partition than the manufacture may offer recovery discs for a small price (around 15-20USD).

This will restore your computer back to when Vista was first installed.
It will be like you just brought it home from the store.

It sounds like the restore has been performed.
Boot normaly, and go to the start menu.
Look for recovery, or restore options.
See if it will allow you to make a set of recovery disc.

just tried to do sfc scan and repair...it said 'Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\COB.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log'. When i tried to go to this log, it denied me access to view it.
