I deparately need help & cannot seem any forums to help me! You "guys" are my last hope.

First, I am running WinXP Pro, and had Windows Defender running. I also have SuperAntispyware, which apparently is NO HELP. Have a wireless internet connection with the firewall turned on, no exceptions. Any other info, let me know.

On Friday, 4/4/08, I noticed my laptop running much slower than usual and I could not print. At first, I thought, well, maybe my print driver was messed up, so I uninstalled the printer & reinstalled it. No luck. So I checked the task manager & the first file I noticed was mrofinu1001186.exe. I ended the process. Then I notice 17PHolmes101186.exe with a dila.tmp. Ended those. Then, different dil*.tmp files started coming in. I did a little search and found these files located in the following directories:

c:\windows\system32\mrofinu1001186.exe
c:\windows\17PHolmes101186.exe

There was also an mmrofinu1001186.exe.tmp file. So I deleted them. Probably not the best thing to do. I have tried several support forums "How to Clean..." and have downloaded ALL sorts of programs to help find what was up & clean/fix my laptop. Some of them would not run, so the last step was in one forum that stated to run them again in safe mode so that the "parasites" would not load. I did same, and found ALL kinds of things (can send the logs if asked, have not deleted them yet). So, I tried to reboot and log in regularly to try & rerun again, and now I cannot even get into my computer in regular mode. I had my laptop password protected because I have a 12 year old daughter who I do not want on my laptop (for this reason in particular). I removed the password only to make it easier for me to reboot and get back in faster. When I try to boot in regular mode, the WinXP screen comes up, windows loads, then the box says, Shutting Down. When I reboot in safe mode, there are two log in options. One is my name with no password, and the other in Administator with a password, that I did not create, and cannot log into. I am now in safe mode. Here is my HiJackThis log. If I end the process for the 17PHolmes*.exe, different things usually start running. So this log is not exclusive to my problem!!! Please help!!

Welcome to GTG.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Download ATF Cleaner at http://www.atribune..../click.php?id=1
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program. Under Main choose Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use the Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use the Opera browser click 'Opera' at the top and choose 'Select All'
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop WMSLService
sc delete WMSLService
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

C:\WINDOWS\17PHolmes1001186.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmona.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wowfx.dll

See if you can restart the computer and get to Normal Mode to do this. If not, you may run it in Safe Mode. Go to http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.
