Hello,

I've had my current computer[XP] for nearly a 1 1/2 years or so now... In January I encountered a so called 'deadly' virus, Virtumonde. I installed Spybot, CCleaner, and HijackThis. I'm pretty sure I got rid of the virus, although I am informed that it remains dormant in Reg files. I'm having problems with ctfmon.exe and rundll.32 or run32.dll. I have yet to find anything to remove these problems. I also noticed that my internect connections quality has not only slowed but has become less efficient. Every month or so I would have problems with Mozilla, but now it has become daily, everytime I attempt to go anywhere such as 'google.com' I see the error 'sever not found' or 'the connection was reset'. I used to download files at 12 kb/s now I'm lucky to get .5 kb/s. I'm wondering if these things are related issues. I have tweaked my firewall, I have mozilla added as an exception, I've removed most 'suspicious' things.

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what could be causing the internet to be so sporadic. I have not changed anything on my connection or modem properties, modem is set to not allow compression which is never higher than 5%. Any ideas on how to get my computer well again?

Thanks in Advance

Hello, and welcome to Geeks To Go.
if you think you still infected or want to see if your still infected i recommend that you go to the
Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
