well as most of you know it or have experienced it...i have received the 1418 error message......it all started when i downloaded an update on itunes........i hooked up my ipod version 1.1.3 nano to my computer and i got a message telling me my ipod cannot be synced an error occurred ....so later i tried and itunes said i must restore my ipod ....so i click restore and in the middle of the restoring process it just stops and gives me a message saying cannot restore ipod problem 1418..........so i researched this problem everywhere and could not find an answer.......some people even said its apples scam into getting people to buy a new ipod.....so later on that day i reinstalled itunes....still didnt work then i realized i have another ipod that i can try using...guess what the error occured on that one...now both dont work.....but when i called apple they told me i have to buy th new ipod and the erro message wont occur...but when i ask them why it messed up both my ipods as soon as i download the update ...they have no answer for me

Try starting the nano in safe mode im not so sure if the nano have safe mode but if it does and it is like the ipod video then its restart (holding menu + center button) then right went the apple logo appears press menu + play then it says safe mode after that try itunes restore.
Also can you still use it with you current songs inside the nano? If so use a different program to sync your music like this one http://www.ephpod.com/
What ipod nano generation 1 or 2? Because if its a 1 gen you can hack it to run another Os like rockbox.
