Hi, this is my first time ever posting here so i hope i do it right, Well I was on my computer playing this game and my Avg popped up and said I had virus. It didn't ask me wat to do with them or anything or even say wat it was gonna do with them and i clicked the "Ok" button. Which I gues was dum. So I deleted the folder it said they where in and now i don't know if there still on my system or wat, I check my Avg's logs and everything and theres nothing logged about it. So now im running Avg's scan, windows defender scan and spybot search and destorys scan. So now I just wanna post my Hijackthis log and see if anyone can see anything funny about it, thanks in advance any tips on how to figure out wat to do would be great. O and its Avg 8.0 pro the newer one fully licenced

Hello Andrew, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo.. Please do the following...

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • Please let your firewall allow the scanning/downloading process.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Regards

Hi, I was unable to locate that file. Is there a way I can uninstall that and redownload it and get that file back that way? Because I ran it again but that file still did not show. I am currently running that other scan but I have to go to sleep. Ill let it run and post the results soon as i wake up. So no need to check on this post for about 7-10 hours.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hello Andrew.. your log is clean to my eyes.. What Kaspersky find is from System Restore which we will flush in a while..

Please do the following..

Please Install/Update Sun Java

Updating Java:
  • Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
  • It should have next icon next to it: Posted Image
  • Select it and click Remove. This will uninstall the previous (outdated) version of Java.
  • Then Download and install the newest version from here: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6

NEXT

Let's clean your Restore Points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous Restore Points which are likely to be infected)
To create a new Restore Point.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK. This will flush your old System Restore.
  • Then please UNCHECK the Turn off System Restore.
  • Click again on Apply, and then click OK. This will create a new Restore Point
System Restore will now be active again

I noticed that you already have:
1. AVG8 as your antivirus
2. Spybot S&D and Windows Defender as your antispyware

I also haven't seen any third-party firewall in your logs.. Do you have any? If you don't, please install ONLY ONE of these free and excellent firewal below:
  • Comodo Firewall Pro
  • PC Tools Firewall Plus
After you install the third party firewall, please disable your Windows firewall. Please go to My Computer >> Control Panel >> Windows Firewall and choose Off (not recommended) option. Then please click Apply and Ok.

And now, to help protect your computer in the future I would like to recommend you these following free programs. Please do remember to use only ONE "Real-Time Protection" software for EACH Antivirus, AntiSpyware and Firewall. [list]
  • SpywareBlaster 4.0 to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

Lastly, to keep your operating system up to date please visit the link below monthly

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this excellent article by Tony Klein: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please also read an excellent article by miekiemoes :Help! My computer is slow!

And another excellent article by CastleCops Malware Prevention: Prevent Re-infection

Please reply to this thread once more and tell us about the computer behaviour before we can close this thread :)

Have a safe and happy computing day!

Hi,

I have done what you told me.

*Deleted my old Java downloads and installed the current version.

*Cleared my old system restores

*Installed a firewall

But, the firewall seems to be making my computer very extremely slow, like I can't even open firefox or control panel or nothing its so bad.

EDIT: btw its the threatfire firewall you told me to download.

help,
Andrew

Hello, thanks for the reply..

Actually the link I provide will lead you to PC Tools firewall and not ThreatFire..

However, please uninstall the firewall that you install before and post a fresh Deckard System Scanner here.. Please tell me about your computer after you uninstall the firewall..

Hello, thanks for the reply...

I see two firewalls in your log.. (Comodo and PC Tools).. This is not a good idea as it will conflict with each other and greatly reducing protection potential..

Please uninstall either Comodo firewall or PC Tools Firewall now! Its your desicion to choose which one to keep...

NEXT

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

AskSBar

NEXT

Using Windows Explorer, please delete the following folder (if present): (To get into Windows Explorer, right click the START button and select "explore.")

C:\Program Files\AskSBar

NEXT

Please re-open HijackThis and click on Do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: Ask Toolbar BHO - {F0D4B231-DA4B-4daf-81E4-DFEE4931A4AA} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\bar\1.bin\ASKSBAR.DLL
O3 - Toolbar: Ask Toolbar - {F0D4B239-DA4B-4daf-81E4-DFEE4931A4AA} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\bar\1.bin\ASKSBAR.DLL

Now close all windows other than HijackThis, then click Fix checked. Close HijackThis.

Please restart your computer.. Please post a fresh Deckard System Scanner in your next reply.. Tell me about your computer condition...

Regards

Your log looks clean to my eyes.. Do you have anymore problem?

Please take your time to read the following excellent articles...
