Hi.

I'm not sure of what part you'll need, so I'll give you the full story.

I babysit this child on 5 years, and he got a Play Station 2 as birthday gift. We wanted to try online on this game so i signed up on a website (www.yourgamingname.com) on the computer by following the instruction.
I put my address, name, email and everything, because it asked for it.

Few days after, I got this unique pin code by the post, which I had to type on the site to confirm the account for some reason.
I did it and we played this game online together. well he did and i helped him into games etc. and played a bit with him. when i was baby sitting him.

Suddenly I got this add invitation on MSN by a Finnish guy. I asked who he was, and he sad we played together, so i just blocked him since he was probably a random person. But then he sent me an E-mail, where he asked if i knew what SQL injection (or something) is, and i was totally like huh.. no? He hacked my/the child's the Play station 2 account. I searched for SQL injection on google and figured it means hacking. The child is really sad now and I can't really explain it to him, we can't get a new account. There's only one unique network access code for each Playstation 2. I kinda feel guilty, and I wanna make him happy again. At the same time the guy who hacked us got my address now, because it's on the account's personal informations, so I sort of feel really scared... I don't like it, really.

I E-Mailed Sony, but they don't answer...

The best I could ask for, is if I can get the account back somehow? Hack it back? I really don't know. I just want the child to be happy again, it means a lot to me, and i don't want some freak to have my full name, address and everything... If you know what I mean.

Thanks a lot already. I really hope you guys can help me :)

Hi there and welcome to the site!

It looks like the website yourgamingname.com isn't as secure as it should be. An SQL injection attack would have to mean that it was yourgamingname that was hacked. I've visited the site and googled yourgamingname. One of the TOP results was a site that contained hacked username and passwords of other people. I'd have to say that the security is flawed.

What is yourgamingname.com? Is it really the legit site provided by Sony or PS2 for online gamers? I'd expect something more from a Sony-backed website.

Yeah, it's the sit provided by Sony for PS2 Online. The instructions said I had to sign up etc. there.

What you're saying is, that the website is very unsecure? How?

Sorry I didn't notice your reply. I must have missed it. Good thing you bumped it.

Well, once your account gets hacked, there's really little if nothing you can do about it, I think. I'm afraid I can't help you recover that account. If it's possible, then I don't have the skill or knowledge on how to do that. Let's just hope someone with more expertise on this matter can help or say something more about this.

Hi,
Even though this is about a gaming console, Hacking and stealing info about someone is affiliated with malware, so i guarantee you will get more help if you post this in the malware forums here.

Hope everything works out

I am going to be buying a BluRay Player, and sadly even with the price drop of standalone BluRay Players it appears the PS3 still stands tall with best BluRay Players. The comparable BluRay Player I wanted was a LG for $279 that had features I don't care about. So even though I always prefered standalone players to game systems being used a movie player, I am now suckering myself into buying a PS3 Slim ...since I will actually use these bonus features. But you can't buy a PS3 and no games... well you cooould, but who does that?

So now I need advice on PS3 games. Name 3 PS3 you think I'd be stupid not to get. ph34r.gif
