My laptop seems to not want to stay connected to the internet. Here is the setup.

Internet --> Router --> Laptop
I can connect for less than a few minutes and I would fail to keep connected. Once the connection drops, I can reconnect by either re-plugging the CAT5 or by going to Network and Sharing Center -> View Status -> Diagnose -> Reset the network adapter "Local Area Connection"

I am not running it through a Router then a Hub and then into my laptop, it is just through the Router and into the laptop now. I cannot even maintain connectivity without the hub.

Any help would be much appreciated, I am at my wit's end.

How old is the router that you're using?
I've experienced that older routers cannot support vista.
