I connect to the net. It will stay connected sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes for 5 hours.

Then I will lose my internet connection but the tray icon will still say I am connected but be frozen...

...the only way to fix it is restart my computer.
when I hit restart is says "Connection tray not responding"
the problem only occurs on wireless but not when I am plugged in by ethernet cable.

this is really a pain and I have been reading all day on various causes, but nothing seems to be working. any ideas??????????????????

There could be a lot of reason causing this...

Try your wireless connection with another laptop or buy a seperate wireless adapter (pc card or usb).

This will at least narrow down the causes
