Vista comes packed with annoyances, for sure.

But this one is doing my head in.

To begin with the behavour was only in Turbolister, (ebays bulk listing tool), but now it's happening in Internet Explorer as well.

When I open a new file - IE keeps going back to the same location - my back up folder for Turbolister! I then have to keep browsing through my folders to get to the location I want, to open the file. That's lots of unnecessary work. I'm used to IE going to the folder you last looked at/opened something.

How can I get the 'open' function to work as before?

Another recent annoyance - I often save web pages for later off-line viewing (html files, not complete archives with pics and everything). Now, when I attempt to open such files, IE reports that it must open the file in a new window, as it is in a different security zone. I tried adding the site in question to my trusted sites, shut down the browser, and tried again - same problem.

Before, these files happily opened in a new tab, rather than a new window.

Is Vista over-blown or what? Any help please :)
