I'm scared.
Could the world end in nine days?

I'm hoping that is sarcasm, because a bomb shelter will not protect you from a black hole.Luckily I can dust off my bomb shelter I built in December of 99. They laughed but I knew it would come in handy....8 yrs later
Personally I feel that people fear things they know nothing about or have no control over. I've read a few articles about this from scientists and nothing was mentioned about a black hole, this black hole hypothesis seems to have been generated from the media. I try my best not to worry about things that I cannot control, the key thing is to make the best of life and enjoy it while it lasts with the people we care for.

Whaaaaa!!!!! It wouldnt save me?????? I specifically asked the architect for anti-nuclear and anti-black hole construction. I knew I shouldnt of trusted that guy, but he did give me a great rate on asteroid insurance

The earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, the big bang, ETc...Personally I feel that people fear things they know nothing about or have no control over
The scientist have to talk this up to justify all of the money spent on it.
I doubt that there is any thing to fear.
On the plus side, if the world was destroyed I would most likely be dead so I would not even know that the world no longer existed.

This reminds me of the "which one doesn't belong" type questions in school. The Big Bang hasn't been disproved like the rest of these things. In fact, according to Wikipedia, "The Big Bang is the cosmological model of the universe that is best supported by all lines of scientific evidence and observation."The earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, the big bang, ETc...
Speaking of Wikipedia, it says that the only thing occurring in the Large Hadron Collider on September 10th will be an attempt to circulate a beam throughout it. The actual high-energy collisions are scheduled to begin after October 21st.

Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) on the grounds that high-energy particle collisions performed in the LHC might produce dangerous phenomena, including micro black holes, strangelets, vacuum bubbles and magnetic monopoles.[23][24][25][26]
In response to these concerns, the LHC Safety Study Group, a group of independent scientists, performed a safety analysis of the LHC and concluded in a report published in 2003 that there is "no basis for any conceivable threat".[27] In 2008, drawing from new experimental data and theoretical understanding, the LHC Safety Assessment Group (LSAG) published a report updating the 2003 safety review, in which they reaffirmed and extended its conclusions that LHC particle collisions present no danger.[28][29][30][31] The LSAG report was reviewed and endorsed by CERN’s Scientific Policy Committee (SPC),[32] a group of external scientists that advises CERN’s governing body, its Council.[28]

I was making fun of the doomsdayers, and pointing out that scientist really do not know. This reminds me of the "which one doesn't belong" type questions in school. The Big Bang hasn't been disproved like the rest of these things. In fact, according to Wikipedia, "The Big Bang is the cosmological model of the universe that is best supported by all lines of scientific evidence and observation."
Since the "big bang" theory, creation, evolution, can not be proved or disproved I do not argue about these theorys.
However, since I am not permitted to argue religion here, I will not even discuss it here. (It does not belong here) This includes evolution.
There have always (for hundreds of years) been people saying that the world will end, it has not.

I think everyone should take a step back, and take a real good look at the world as a whole and whats truly going on in it. And when you do that, the LHC should not be on the top of the "Oh Crap" list.
Now take my two cents and savor them

the sun is a tabloid...i'm surprised they didn't report that the LHC was being used to bring batboy back from the dead

This deserves applause. Hats off.I think everyone should take a step back, and take a real good look at the world as a whole and whats truly going on in it. And when you do that, the LHC should not be on the top of the "Oh Crap" list.
