Changing the setting may very well do it. It would make the hdd appear to be a normal PATA (IDE) drive rather than SATA.

Do you know if there would be any adverse effects to doing this? Would there be any performance issues? Thanks for all the help so far, I greatly value your opinion!

Unless you have a RAID setup, it shouldn't hurt anything.

If you feel there has been a performance reduction, simply change it back.

Just an Update

After trying a couple thins I was able to update by disabling the BIOS Setting mentioned before. I was able to install the 64 Bit Vista, and all seems great!
