I'm not that great with computers and I've been having problems with vista. I recently re-formated my computer to clean my HDD and remove file I don't need anymore. I updated all the drivers Motherboard / Video Card / Vista updates / etc. About a day later or so, I would either shutdown or restart my computer and it would take a very long time for it to start up, and when it shuts down, it just says "Shutting Down" for like 10+mins and I have to manually shut it down to get it to turn off.

Edit: I just had to to update to SP1 and restarted my computer and I got this pop up (This happened before, Just forgot about it.)

Look at Attachment.

Could you explain what you did to reformat the computer? The exact steps you took?
Is there a C:\Windows.old folder?

As far as fixing the error message, just follow the instructions on the screen! Running the startup repair from the CD will resolve your BCD error and allow you to boot into Vista.
