Im helping my sister to restore her Emachines E4216 and as youre probably aware they dont supply recovery disks at purchase, i used the recovery partition of the HDD to try and restore but it didnt move past 0% for half an hour so i restarted to find the hdd had been erased and the pc is now no longer booting the hdd, it doesnt even list it asa bootable device in BIOS, i need to know if a vista recovery disk will work as I am downloading one, or will i need the full vista installation disk? didnt know if this was software or hardware so posted in both, on reflection is probs software.

If this is software problem, you'll need Vista DVD. Vista Recovery CD won't reinstall operating system.
What was the initial problem with your sister's computer?
