Hello,
Information in your post leaves a lot of assumptions. So let's assume you not only changed the motherboard, but also installed Windows. So, after you installed Windows, did you install the motherboard chipset driver?
If you go to Device manager, are there any yellow exclamation marks showing up?

You need to go to ASUS and download all the drivers required for your motherboard. The most important driver is the chipset driver... without this, the chipset cannot correctly communicate with the rest of the motherboard. Sure, you computer will run, but the PCI bus is not correctly communicating.
Download the chipset driver from either ASUS, or Intel website. Install it, then install the rest of the drivers... to include the audio driver. Do not use Vista drivers for an XP installation. While some may work, most won't.

If you go to ASUS and enter your motherboard model in the Search bar, you should find all the drivers required. I could find the link and post it here for you, but then I'm sure you can handle it yourself... plus, it'll be a good learning experience for you. ;-) Trust me, you'll have fun! If you do have problems though, post back and I'll help you further.
