I have had nothing but trouble with this Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. After I originally set it up, I took me forever to get my networking issue (at the time) fixed. It was the infamous issue of it dropping the signal and then renewing while trying to use the internet. After two weeks on the phone with SBC and Linksys, I figured out that it was windows firewall and after I disabled it, eveything has worked fine. The new issue is that my speed is at 1250 kbps and 550kbps. I pay for 6000/768 and I can get that directly when hooked up to the modem but not at the router regardless if it is wireless or wired. I have a Speedstream 5100 modem and Linksys WRT54GS with XP laptop. All firmware has been updated on both units and I have gone through all the normal reset this and that, etc... This router has worked fine until the last month. Although I can surf the net and do the things I need to do, it takes a lot longer to get my work done. Once again, after being on the phone with SBC and then them telling me to call Linksys, I was on the phone for three hours. After another two hours with Linksys, the incredible language barrier took so much time away from actually diagnosing the problem that my cell phone was running low on battery. After I informed the tech that my phone was going dead, three minutes later he hung up on me!! :) THE NERVE OF THIS GUY!! I quit trying to overcome obstacles that are beyond my control so here is my issue. Thanks for your time!!
