Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTL log in THAT forum.

How do I get these tools onto the infected computer? It won't let me connect to the internet. I've got MBAM on it already. The virus (antivirus 2009) won't let any programs open. So I ran MBAM in safe mode and it detected it and deleted it but on reboot it was back. So now I'm doing a full scan. But back to my original question, how do I get the needed tools onto the infected computer? Thanks.

Hi MissyLU,

If you are unable to update MBAM it will not be much help if the last update was old.

So please go to the malware forum and post your problem.

I just had 2 laptops infected with what I assume is the latest version of the "fake malware" trojan. I tried EVERY recommended way to remove, and nothing worked because the malware had taken over the machine to the point it was impossible to run ANY programs to clean the system. The command prompt could not be accessed. Ctrl ALt Del did not get the task manager - I got a popup saying a file was corrupted.
After refusing to run the suggested scan about 15 times or so, it started popping up Viagra adds on IE. Using Google, I could do a search without any problem, but regardless where I tried to go it redirected me to various so-called search sites. After a few more tries, it started popping up porn-sites.

I finally pulled the hard drive and slaved it to another (non-critical - expendable) computer and downloaded andd ran

Machine is now fine.
Did the same on the second machine.
About 24 hours total between the two!!!!!!!
