GMail has an attachment file limit and filters out certain filters types. Problems may also arise using a local client-side program to send email and emails with attachments. Which browser and its add-ons/plug-ins may cause problems.

Have you tried using GMail online for same email type and/or same attachment type? If you can send direct from GMail's web login and not from home/office, it might be the email program or a firewall/security program.

See GMail Help. See Symptoms right side and check proper radio buttons for Google's explanation.

I am a bit slow at checking all this out. Busy doing other things.
I went through the links you gave me. I can access gmail from any computer the problem is attachments that are bigger than 20Kb I don't know what size can and cant but 1MB file cant be sent. I only get error #008 after a few min. The problem stared a few months ago on my computer at work. At home it works with no problems.
My work has a firewall but I even tried to work around it but the same happens.
I tried using IE7 and crome.
Any Idea what to do?

I have another problem that started around the same time. It may be connected. that I cant open ftp sites on this same computer I set the settings in the browser. but I get a error "the ftp site cannot be viewed in windows explorer"

Hello vally...

Are you using an e-mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc...) when you try to send attachments?

When using IE7 for accessing FTP folders, have you tried using Windows Explorer directly rather than accessing through Internet Explorer?

When you say you tried working around the firewall, did you disable it completely?

I am using the email only via the browser IE7 and Crome.

The ftp I am trying via the Windows Explorer. It worked before and then stopped for some reason some time ago. At home it works fine in the windows explorer. It works on other computers

I disabled the fire wall on the computer to check out gmail and even it did not help. I used an IP that does not go through the firewall of the organization and the same thing happens.

dsenette

I noticed now that I did not exactly post correctly. I have an IP that can bypass the firewall where I work. The same things happen. On other computers in the organization there is no problem to send attachments

I am at the IT department.

I noticed now that when I type the ftp address in the Windows explorer it opens the IE automatically and there it will not open it.

I discovered that if I set my gmail to " Older version" then you can send an attachment at any size.

My IT department does not know any other solution.
It is not a network problem or policy because it worked and then suddenly made trouble but the computers around me don't have any problem useing the new settings in gmail.
I have some friends that have the same problem from home and this does solve the problem of adding a attachment in gmail.
