I have a second HDD and vista can't see it its in bios and vista know its there but when ever i go to "my computer" it dose not show, so i have been looking on where to lay the tracks so it can show in "my computer" :)

so the drive DOESN'T show up in BIOS?

is this a new drive? old drive? anything on it? SATA or PATA?

its a sata and it does show up i bios

so it DOES show up in BIOS but not in windows....is it new? or old? does it have data on it? has it ever showed up in vista?

AH! did the drive come with any disks? what make and model drive is it?

right click on my computer and choose manage then go to disk manager....does the drive show up there (these are the steps in XP...should work in vista)

it didn't came with any disk and its shows is Disk management

alright...right click on the black part that says "unallocated" and choose format....format the drive as NTFS....you can either choose to use the entire drive size as a single partition (probably what you're wanting to do) or change the size and make multiple partitions on the drive

the advantage of multiple partitions is that you could make different drives for different things (like one for music, one for pictures, one for documents)...to keep things organized....of course you can just create folders on the drive once it's formatted to do this as well

thanks for your help, but i figured it out, the "programmers" change the word format to something else its called "new volume" so its being formated right know. Thanks for the help, you did help me . :) :) :wave: :help: :) :) :) :)
