You probably need to install or re-install the graphics driver (also referred to as video driver) as it may have become corrupted. Your current display resolution of 1024x768 indicates that the driver is installed already since it's impossible to get that setting without it, but it's probably not working as it should.

To get the correct driver we need to know the make/model of the PC if it's a well-known brand, since the drivers are obtained from the PC manufacturer's website. If not a well-known make (or if it's a self-built system) we need to know the make & model of the motherboard.
To get that information you can download 'Belarc Advisor' from here: http://www.belarc.co...e_download.html

Run it and post the system information sheet from it.

Well, recovery disk works only on that one particular machine, it was made for, so I don't understand, how you're able to use recovery disk from your sister computer, on your computer.

This is some kind of miracle, but in any case, let's give it a shot.

Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeek...wnload4181.html
Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under the line Debug - PCI
