The short end of the original problem is this. The USB ports stopped working a week or so ago, someone else in my office attempted to fix this by going to Microsoft Support. They used remote desktop and downgraded XP to SP2 (from SP3), installed drivers from .inf file which did not rectify the problem. Shortly after this windows would not boot up on this partition (regular startup, safe mode, or last good configuration) and is giving the error below.
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF79E3528, OxC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Per the instructions on the original post I have taken the following steps.
-Ran windows repair with a second XP disc which did not give any visible results to startup and ruled out error with CD-ROM drive
-Ran a Drive Fitness Test and was given 0x00 result (no errors)
-Removed each stick of RAM one at a time to verify it was not the problem
-Ran windows repair console "chkdsk /r" which showed there were errors but they had been repaired
As it is I can not access the desktop at all so I am unable to provide a hijackthis log. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Josh
