websites only displaying in middle of window

Just got a new laptop, a sony vaio fw series. Its got full hd meaning a resolution of 1920x1080.

Somehow, I hit a key or a combination of them that changed how websites are displayed (its affected both ie and firefox), certain ones anyway.

The websites only take up the middle third of the screen. Its as if they are being framed by large open spaces on both sides. See the pic below. The sites are normally not displayed like this.

Any help?

I've already changed both my screen resolution and dpi settings in windows

Happening here too, so I don't think its your computer, but how they have it set to display the site
