OK...with an attempt at brevity. This is my debut posting on Geekstogo, so here goes:

A friend's machine is infected with the antivirus 2009. I've taken care of this on a couple of machines at the office so I'm thinking, meh - no biggie. WRONG. This is a tough little rascal. I downloaded malwarebytes onto a flash drive from a different machine. Went to the infected machine, disconnected it from the internet, booted in safe mode and tried to run the malwarebytes from the flash drive. The program won't even start. I tried it with a couple of different malware killers but none of them would start.

Next, I looked through the registry and found only a few lines of relevant code to delete but can find nothing on the processes tab in task manager and can find no files on the C: drive to delete. I've read many pages worth of files to look for but none of them are on this machine. It also prevents the antivirus (AVG) from running.

This virus has taken full control of the machine. I've read through forum after forum and haven't found the solutions I need. Now, I'm really stuck.
