I want to say thank you to Bar5 for all your hard work i really appreciate it

Anyway, i know for a fact that i haven't changed the password for my router but anyway how do i update its firmware and reset the router back to factory setting.
Do i have to install the CD that came with my router or something like that ?

If that's the case then resetting your router's firmware won't really achieve anything. Can you please do the following:

• Press Start
• Select Run
• Type cmd and press OK
• In the new command prompt window, type telnet 192.168.1.1 and then press the enter key.
• Once it connects, it should prompt you for a password, type 1234.

Alright, I think we may have to try a factory reset -- but first can you please do the following:

• Press Start
• Select Run
• Type cmd and press OK
• In the new command prompt window, type ipconfig /all > C:\ipconfig.txt
• Navigate to your C: drive and open the text file ipconfig.txt -- please copy/paste the contents of this file into your next response.

*NOTE: Please ensure you have a computer hard-wired to the router, to ensure you can perform the necessary setup steps. Resetting the router will reset all settings, thus requiring you to reconfigure your router's SSID, encryption, etc.

On your router, there will be a small reset button -- it is often recessed into the router, so you may need to use a safety pin or pen in order to reach it. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds while the router is powered on.

Once the router resets, wait two minutes to ensure it completely reboots, and returns to normal operations. You should then be able to access it by entering 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your preferred browser; can you login to the router using the default username/password?
