I have a folder in my recycle bin that just won't delete. i can delete every file around it manually but the particular one won't budge.
I have always been pretty tech savvy but i'm busted on this one.

I've searched google for hours trying to look for a reason but all i keep finding are people who can't find their trash or deleted it, etc...

O yeah, tried emptying it with ccleaner too. Nada :)

-thanks in advance

First, try getting into safe mode and deleting it there. It may be a file in the trash bin is accessing computer files. To get into safe mode keep hitting the F8 key while the computer is booting up. Then use the arrow keys to select safe mode.

Another thing you can try is the move on boot program.

http://www.softwarep...moveonboot.html

Move on boot has a tutorial on moving undeletable files.

http://www.softwarep...-delete-xp.html

There is also a program called "Delete FPX files" that may work for you.

And then there is the Unlocker.

I hope one of these works.

Have you tried going into the $Recycle or $Recyle.Bin folder (it has several names depending on which version of windows you are using) to delete it manually? I was able to do that recently for an annoying installation file (a legitimate one d/l from my university, it was the Microsoft Campus Agreement Office ISO). I don't know if it it was its size or what, but it WOULD NOT delete. So I enabled the viewing hidden system files and folders. Browsed to the recycle bin folder, then inside there was a folder for each user on the computer (they all start with S follwed by a bunch of random numbers and letters, these are unique to each user). I can't remember now but I may have had to take ownership of the folder to access it, but once I was in the folder I simply clicked on it and deleted it and it deleted just fine.

The file isn't being used by any program and won't delete in safe mode either. (Its literally a folder in a folder that's it!)

I ran into something that said the file may be tied in with the MFT?

O yeah i tried to manually go to the $recycle.bin and there wasn't anything there???
