I just got my laptop back from being repaired (the motherboard had to be fixed because the power supply wasn't working).
This is the first time I've really used it since I got it back and twice today it has crashed completely after I have left it alone for a few minutes. I did a check before and it appeared that as well as crashing the fan had stopped working but the screen was still on.
I know this laptop is really crappy thanks to it using windows Vista. My windows updater does not work which means I can't install SP1. I have the installation file for it on here, but because the updater doesn't work I can't install it.

Did you get any warranty for the repair?
Why don't you bring it back to the shop?

I have a warranty but I can't send if off for repair here, I'm at university and they will only pick up and deliver from my home address or a store and there aren't any stores nearby I can get to. I also need this computer since my main pc is having serious problems (I have another thread in the xp section).

I just got a blue screen while I was away from the laptop.

In order not to void the warranty, your best option would be to send it back, somehow, but let's do one check.

Download, and install WhoCrashed: http://www.resplende...rashedSetup.exe
Open it, click Analyze button.
WhoCrashed will create report.
Copy, and paste it into your next reply.

Analysis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crash dump directory: C:\Windows\Minidump

Crash dumps are enabled on your computer.

No crash dumps have been found on your computer

That's strange, I've had the blue screen of death a few times in the last day or so since I started using it again. I guess it really is a hardware fault, I really need this fixing as it seems like my pc will be out of action a while. I would use my old pc but that things dead as well and my other laptop is back at home with a broken fan. I'm not having any luck with computers at the moment.

Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.

Most of the errors come from NETw3v32.sys file, which is Intel Wireless Adapter Driver.
Try to reinstall/update the driver.

I think I updated the drivers, not too sure, vista never works properly for me.

Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

Was this the right thing to update?

Yeah.
1. Download new driver from here: http://downloadcente...s...on&lang=eng
2. Uninstall current driver
3. Unzip downloaded 12.2.0.0_V_Drivers.zip file.
4. Go to 12.2.0.0_V_Drivers\Disk\Vista\Drivers\v32 folder.
5. Double click on dpinst32.exe file.

I did what you said but I just got another blue screen of death when I left my laptop alone to eat. This time my laptop took ages to load, a lot longer than normal (this stupid thing is really slow thanks to vista).

Temps look OK.

Can you do this again:

Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.
